PhD workshop

Call for Submissions

The SIGraDi PhD Workshop is a unique opportunity for PhD students to present and discuss their research proposals in the CAAD field and related topics. The workshop aims to promote interaction between doctoral students and more experienced researchers and collaboration between doctoral students working on similar topics. Student enrollments at any stage of the work are welcome. The wokshop will take place at the same venue as the SIGraDi 2018 conference, and will take place on November 6th from 9am to 6pm. It is planned to discuss up to 20 proposals. In the case that more than 20 proposals are approved in the review process, the ones that are in the final phase and represent the diversity of topics in the area will be selected for presentation. The remaining candidates will receive written comments and are welcome to attend the workshop as listeners.

Important Dates

  • Research proposal submission (PDFs): August 27th September 05th, 2018
  • Notification of approved proposals: October 1st, 2018
  • Revised proposal submission (PDFs): October 29th, 2018
  • PhD Workshop: November 6th, 2018

Submission Guidelines

Being in the initial stages of the doctorate, the research proposal should describe and contextualize the problem, present its relevance, and the methods that will be used to develop it. Being close to completion, the presentation should also describe the results and expected contribution to the field.

Proposals must be written in English and may have a maximum of 1,500 words (excluding title, author’s name and references) and 4 pictures. Entries must be uniquely authored, and the name of the advisor should be clearly stated (“guided by”) in the proposal, under the author’s name. Proposals must be sent through the PHD Workshop page. Workshop participants can also send articles to the SIGraDi congress, even if the title or content is similar.

Review Process

The review process will take into account the quality of the research proposal and academic writing. Authors of approved proposals should incorporate the changes suggested by the reviewers and resubmit their papers by the final deadline. Presentations and discussions will be in English.

Awards

The best work presented will receive reimbursement of the 2018 SIGraDi Congress registration.
